Lack of maintenance service providers
Motor city as a community is very good, however maintenance is expensive. No outside technicians are allowed with them as a registering with UP with a security deposit. So companies providing service inside the community have a hiked-up price, a monopoly. Schools are close but not so in-expensive. Pools are well more… maintained. Love the community overall. This appt in specific has lots of maintenance issues. AC doesn't cool, one of the electric gas station stopped working, washing machine was to be repaired but we ended up buying a new one as owner refused to repair. He owner was good enough to change the water heater. There are mosquito issues in this house as there's a drainage outlet right outside the balcony. I assume that causes this as well as because its ground floor. Washbasins should be repaired as water leaks. Balcony has a black smoke patch which I assume the previous tenant left and so it looks ugly. No maintenance contract included along with the rental so all maintenance expenses are on the tenant. Appt is good to live with these petty issues and occasional heavy bills. But this appt is very close to the metropole school and to the football ground in the community, so happy with this.. Nothing so far. I can spend my whole life here :)
This is a place which made me like Dubai. When I came to Dubai I was missing greenery and nature and friends. After moving to Motor city, every day feels like a new fresh day.The view from our apartment is awesome.Air is so fresh, chirpings of birds, everything gives a soothing more… effect. When I come back from work, I feel back home.It is a different feel.It gives more than what an apartment gives. A walk in the gardens makes me feel so rejuvenated.Show less

Noise by security guards and other staff working there
Motor City is a great community with all of the facilities, though the gym is very tiny and not equip properly. Shops, restaurants and biggest Spinneys is just near by. Everything is perfect except annoying security guards, my studio flat is in the ground floor, since i live alone i more… thought before moving in that security near by could be make me feel secure, but after moving in and settling my self i've noticed noise, day and night because the security is there sitting just next to my door 24hours! so what they do? of course watching a movies over the phone, even though they have earphone they don't use it, their radiophone is constantly on! They have friends- the workers, gardeners, cleaners and all of them like to gather together just next to my door and eating, talking loud, they don't care about residents who is live there. Several times i was waken up at 3-5am, by loud sound from their radiophones! i did complain and I've wrote e-mails, but no one has responded, so i now use earplugs to cancel the noise and that I'll be able to sleep.... So if anyone is considering to rent apartment in the ground floor next to the security guards, think 100 times again!Show less

Positives
Evening sun on the balcony
Negatives
Maintenance company
We are facing inwards to towards the pool from the 3rd level and are not blocked out by the building behind us which means we have quite a good view. The balcony gets the evening sun which is a big plus and doesn't get too warm during the morning. The area more… is nice, not too much traffic and we have 2 allocated parking spots in a gated parking area. A couple of things that do let it down are that we have had the occasional issue of someone parking in our parking spot which didn't matter at the time too much as we only had 1 car but it was incredibly annoying once we had the second car. Security are useless (much like most of Dubai) and couldn't do anything to remove the car, they wouldn't even leave a note for the owner of the car to contact them to move the car at first but after going to the security office every day for 2 weeks they finally did something about it. Furthermore, the maintenance company who you have to use for the building is worse than useless. Repeated calls and workers not showing up at the promised time is a constant nightmare. Promised many call backs which never happened which adds to the frustration. We had a leak in the kitchen from the AC unit which was caused by the high humidity and it took 4 weeks to finally get someone to visit the flat who didn't actually even do anything but just had a look. Another 2 weeks until someone came out to fix it, were supposed to be there between 2pm-6pm and finally showed up at 10pm to do the work. The negatives are easy to point out but all in all it's a nice flat with spacious rooms and some nice finishings.Show less

Motor City is an amazing place to live but the apartments are really expensive comparing with the property status. The owners are leasing the apartments without maintenance and they are using cheap companies for painting. The developer should not allow any owner to lease the apartment before doing full maintenance.

Negatives
We just moved here last year and are very happy that we choose Motor City. It is most suitable area for families with small baby like us. No need for car to do the shopping, have something to eat or go for long walk in a park with my little more… one. Everything is here and easily reachable even with a stroller. The area is quiet in general but our building gets a little more noise because it is close to the gates and cars come this way frequently. The flat is huge and I don't mind the open kitchen either. Bathroom looks a bit old, but also good size. The extra storage room on the parking level is priceless! Show less

Sound noise at my place
Motor City is an amazing place to live. Family oriented, green, full of pets and very very nice community in general. In fact this was the only area I wanted to live but my studio location in the building itself causes me so much trouble. I am a resident in Westin more… Court II, unfortunately living on ground floor in a studio next to the garbage vent and above the garbage disposal room. The noise that can be heard when somebody throws their garbage from the 3rd floor and it bangs itself left and right and then smashes beneath is unbelievable. In addition to that the cleaning staff comes early to work and causes noise below in the room, moving the dumpsters and pushing them. Complaining to the management of the building gave some results but nothing can be done for the improvement of the sound as it seems that the wall facing the garbage vent is super thin. The wall with my neighbor on the side must be different as I never hear anything. Currently I am hoping for some understanding from the management and fixing of a mechanism on the door for the vent and vent itself to make it stop and slow down when closing. Very often there are water leakages but maintenance comes quick. Again, the place is beautiful, area is my preferred but maybe I am just unlucky with flat location. The rents are quite high but size of flats huge.Show less

My favourite time in Dubai is the period when I lived in Motor City. It is quiet, free of traffic, has trees and I could hear birds. It is one of the the few communities that allows pets (even though I didn't have one, I believe anyone who has a more… pet is cool). The gym is ok and pool is nice and big. Security is fantastic. Roads are clear of traffic. Lots of parks and open spaces (kids can run around the community). I love it.Show less

Money paid for services
I've purchased my apartment in 2008, the good thing was that the developer promised to deliver the apartment on time. I wished they did not. The finishing was bad, it was so obvious that they didn't care much about quality of the workshops because they want to submit it on more… time. So I've spent the last 6 years repairing and doing nonsense maintenance from my own money such as a bad sink, 5000 AED for floor problem happened because the subcontrator didn't care much about doing it correctly from the first time, 2000 AED to change a bathtub because the subcontrator didn't put enough concrete under it so it broke easily. Electricity problems, AC keep leaking water, etc.. I have to pay 18000AED annually because of service charges "outside my house", and yet there is no single garden in the area, no security cameras and broken doors to my building. So I can guarantee the security around will not be capable of stopping any future criminal activity if occurred God forbid. One more thing, despite that the terrace is one third of my apartment, so it is huge, I cannot do anything with it such as washing or putting some plants or basic barbecue party because there is no way to put any water and there is no place for water waste, just a tiny little hole which is 5 cm size. I give Motor City and Norton Court 5 stars overall as our family is extremely happy living in this area. Yes it's a bit far from the city, the finishing of the apartment is not to the highest standards and the gym isn't enough for a proper workout. However the size more… of the one bedroom is perfect for a young family and the balcony has beautiful view of the surrounding gardens. The pool is decent sized, watchmen are frequently patrolling the area, kids can play safely inside the community. We can easily walk to quite a few restaurants, cafes, pharmacies and everything you could need for your everyday life. We feel very lucky that we could renew our rent here for a fair price.Show less

I've lived here for 4 years and fought to renew in the area. I love the place, it's green, lively and quiet at the same time. It's also somehow strategic, it's 20 minutes drive to almost every part of Dubai. My job requires me to visit Downtown as often as Media more… City and this place is in the middle. Easy access to many great supermarkets (Spinneys, Carrefour and bluemart) and a number of restaurants. I like cycling and this is the best place in the whole city to cycle. I have the longest biking track right next to me in Bab al Shams and the Autodrome is right here which opens every Wednesday for cyclers. If you also like swimming, it's a 5 minutes drive to the only Olympic swimming pool in Dubai (Hamdan Sports Complex) which is open for public for only 20 AED per entry or 200 per month for unlimited access. It's very family and pets friendly. And happily it's not high towers, so you don't have to wait 30 minutes for the elevator. If you sit on the balcony you see a lot of people walking around, running, etc.Show less

There is nothing I dont like about Motor City
Motor City is a safe and friendly neighborhoud. Young families are drawn to this area. There are children everywhere and there are ample parks, swimming pools and paths for scooters and bikes. Walking distance to supermarkets and lots of amenities. Truly a gem of an area.

Poor quality fixtures
Widcombe House is a quiet three-level building with a variety of apartment sizes. My husband and I chose to live in a studio which is a good size of 750 sq ft and also has a large balcony with views of tall leafy green trees. The fixtures are fairly basic more… and on the cheap side for quality. ServeU is the assigned maintenance crew who are sometimes responsive but need to improve on following up on jobs. There are several pools in the area and one outside our door which is mainly used for cooling off rather than any serious laps. Next to each pool there is a small gym room which includes 1 treadmill an elliptical machine, bike and weight machines. Since moving from the downtown area, we are now blessed with quiet, peaceful sleeps as the walls are quite sound proof. Many people enjoy walking their dogs along the paved paths. A short 5 minute walk away there are a variety of restaurants, cafes, pharmacies and salons along the main strip as you drive into the Motor City community. There is also a large Spinneys. GEMS school has just opened this past September and there is a nursery in the area. Show less

I have been living in Motor City for the last five years and I can say it without any doubt that its the best place to live in Dubai. The community is amazing and well maintained. Shops, schools, clinics etc. are all at a walking distance. The place is a more… bit pricy but considering the amenities here its a win win deal for the residents.Show less

LOVE IT! Beats living downtown- noise and traffic! LOVE IT! My 2-bedroom apartment in Motor City is located in an amazing spot - far from downtown and all the loud traffic. Close to the wonderful AQ cycle track and quick access to the Rugby 7's grounds. It has the Motor City more… strip that offers groceries and plenty of restaurants to eat at and for take away. When wanting to go out, it's less than a 60AED cab ride towards the Marina or Madinat, and under 100 to get to the airport for the many travel weekends!Show less

The service/maintenance provider
We have been living in motor - city for over 4 years now and would not trade it for anything else. The location is great, 10 min and you are in the centre of everything, whether it is DIFC and Bur Dubai or whether it all the way to Maktoum airport more… - Surrounding schools are growing exponentially in the past 2 years between sports city, motorcity and arabian ranches you have at least 6 schools (int'l ones) Basic amneties are all present there, supermarkets (biggest Spinneys in Dubai, carrefour), pharmacies, medical centre, music centre, play area, photo shop, and so many restaurants, coffee shops and even bars around the area leaves you lost for choice. this is not to forget that 2 big shopping malls/retail strips are in progress and by mid-next year the shopping offering will at least double. It's friendly, with great neighbors and a well connected active community - plz visit Motorcity Dubai facebook page and see for yourselves there is on-going community activities, book club, yoga club (free), cycling, childrens activities and parties and festivities for every season. The thin walls and bad maintenance
Been here for 9 months. Location is great, taxis show up when called, you can walk to the shops, lots of pools. Traffic is only bad trying to get to Spinneys, rather walk. Down side: The walls are paper thin, if not thinner. I hear more… the kids next door cry every morning, the dad talking to them, dog barking upstairs, other neighbour slamming doors. Playground/ open area in front of the building is super noisy 3-6pm, for me working non regular hours, a problem if you need to sleep for a night shift. In spite of notices everywhere to prevent fires, my balcony still gets decorated with cigarette butts from people on higher floors. In the parking lot, people literally throw rubbish out the car doors, expecting someone to pick up. Fittings are not good quality, already had a flooded apartment due to a weak connection behind the sink. This flooded my apartment, the apartments 2 floors below me and the electrical room of the building. So beware if someone above you has a flood. This is due to the "fake" inner walls of the apartments. Emicool and DEWA together, never below 1000dhs a month, this is for me in a one bed. Emicool service poor and quick fixes. Serve U does maintenance, not great. Now new fees charged to secure the Serve U crew "day passes" to the buildings, although they are here anyway, 100dhs starting charge. Gate charges for maids and cleaning companies has also been implemented in the last week or so, companies doing cleaning not allowed into Motor City unless they pay the "day passes". Doors to get access to building randomly works. A great place for location and traffic, but other than that, a lot of issues. Overpriced for poor quality. Show less

Busy car park
Lovely, spacious apartment. One bedroom apartment perfect for one person or a couple. En suite bathroom plus guest bathroom. Huge balcony which is great, could easily have been another bedroom. Car park for guests is very busy at certain times and some times there isn't any spaces available. Easy walking more… distance to lots of restaurants and supermarket. No metro near by so have to rely on taxis if you don't drive. Lots of swimming pools around the area to choose from and beautiful greenery. I'd recommend Motor City to anyone. Show less
