A/C
We’ve been in this building for 4 years. If you want to live in Downtown without breaking your pocket, this building is for you. Burj Al Nujoom is one of the cheapest buildings that you can find in the Downtown area which is near the commercial establishments especially Dubai Mall. more… Also, there is a nearby grocery store (Carrefour) which is very convenient and located just a few meters away from the building. The downside though is, with the cheap price, don’t expect first class amenities. One problem that we’ve been dealing during our stay is the A/C especially in the bedrooms. Its either you will need to buy a separate A/C or electric fan if you want to feel comfortable in the summer season. There are also occasional smells coming out of the A/C.Show less

Smell, AC
The apartment building is in an incredible location and the rent is cheaper than the surrounding buildings. However, those are the only 2 positives. The smell from the sewer is unberable most days as it constantly smells like the toilets are backing up. I have had to buy many more… candles over the last year. The water pressure is almost nonexistent. If someone else on your floor is running water you will not be able to use the showerhead. The AC system doesnt have exact settings and is extremely loud! Spend a little bit more money and look at a different buildingShow less

Counting the days until our lease is over

Sewer gas smell, mold health issues
We are counting the days until the lease is over. We rented the place because of its location and the size and layout of the 3 bed plus maids and study but we wish we had not. The kitchen was so bad we had to replace it ourselves. There more… was no electricity hookup for the oven and we were told by maintenance to use an extension cord. They forgot the gas lines, so they are exposed outside the tile in the kitchen. There was no drain or place for a dishwasher, so we had to add these ourselves. The fire alarms often go off, making the elevators stop working. The ventilation and a/c systems are incorrectly installed and spread mold throughout the apartment so my husband's and children's asthma is unbearable. The worse problem is that the plumbing drainage is incorrectly done so a disgusting sewer gas spreads throughout the apartment, and we smell it in our sleep. The landlords argue that the problems should be fixed by the developer and the maintenance says problems should be fixed by the landlords so nothing gets fixed. Our landlord actually wanted us to go to RERA so that he would not have to finance a RERA case himself. (We chose not to, as that would require an additional 8,000 AED deposit on our part.) Run, don't walk, away from this building. Show less

Common areas need better maintenance
A very good value for money for small budgets in the heart of Downtown. In downtown it's the cheapest tower. The apartments themselves are very nice and the layout is very good, geometric. The finishing is, of course, far from luxury, but clean and fair quality. The studio unit is more… very good. The rooftop pool is good enough to enjoy a bath when you need, but the temperature is not controlled, very hot in summer. Poor gym, but some machines. The tower security and maintenance are very efficient and always here to help day and night! There is some construction around but the windows are very good you can't hear a thing.Show less

The building
The flat itself is ok. The building however is not of very high quality. Finishes are poor. Car park is filthy. AC is really loud and doesnt work very well in hot summer months. No possibility for a washing mashine

The smell, the building entrance, the finishing, no storage, no area for washing machine or dryer
The only great thing about Burj Al Nujoom is its location. Right in the middle of downtown, with Carrefour under it and Dubai Mall right across, Burj Al Nujoom's location makes it extremely easy to walk wherever. However, the entrance of the building wasn't thought of well enough (you have to more… walk up a ramp). Also, the bathrooms smell terrible - there's always a sewage smell if we don't light scented candles. The finishing is terrible, for a new building it looks like it's 10 years old. The layout wasn't thought of well enough - we had to remove a counter top in the kitchen and drill the wall to add a washing machine. There's no storage. An area for the washing machine and a storage should be thought of when constructing a building, I'm not sure how the architects of the building missed this. Anyway, long story short, we are really looking forward to move out. For the price we are paying, we could be living in a much more prestigious building in Downtown Dubai.Show less
