CONVERTED THE LAKE TO A GARDEN
JLT is a nice place to live with good people, nice infrastructure, play areas, garden, lakes, public transport, restaurants, walking area and proximity to Dubai, JEBEL ALI, ABU DHABI etc. apart from sea side areas. Proximity and easy access to SHEIKH ZAYED ROAD adds to the value.

Positives
The view and surrounding walking areas.
Negatives
The poor finishings inside the apartment and expensive rent!
Living in JLT is nice, my apartment is spacious and I have furnished it to my liking. I had to buy all my kitchen appliances as they where not included by the owner even though I will probably be living here for 1 year only as the apartment rent is more… very high and I know the owner will increase the rent even more in the next yearly renewal if I do decide to stay. The apartment has normal tile floor and I was lucky enough to get the owner to repaint the apartment before we moved in, he considered this a "special" favour when repainting an apartment when a new tenant enters is obligatory everywhere else in the world. The great aspect of this apartment are the views, we have amazing views with large floor to ceiling windows in the living room and bedroom where you can see Sheikh Zayed Road and all the lit buildings of Marina. I enjoy walking my maltese puppy in the pedestrian walk around the man made lake here in JLT as there are no cars and its dog friendly, there a few grass spots where she can run and play, although a bit more grass fields in JLT would be great, but in general it is good. The finishings of the kitchen and the 2 bathrooms in my apartment are not so good. It is very ugly, poor quality tile, sinks and bathroom that look very outdated, it does NOT give the space a polished, modern look. The kitchen size is rather small, barely enough space to cook, so it is definitely not a kitchen suitable for a person who enjoys cooking like me, but I have to give in somewhere as the perfect apartment in Dubai is hard to find specially if you are on a budget. I looked at many apartments in Dubai, mostly in Marina, JLT and a few in Downtown and I think that for size and budget I found my best option here in JLT. In general I am happy here and it was worth the effort in furnishing it as it is of my taste now and it helps compensate for some of the poor finishings inside the apartment. Just wish rent was not so expensive here in Dubai! Show less

Positives
Size of studio, closeness to metro station
Negatives
Slow elevators
This building is the best if you want to be VERY close to a metro station at an affordable price ( I was looking in the JLT, Marina, Tecom , and Barsha metro stations area) The studio is one of the biggest I've seen - it has a separator so feels more… more like two separate areas rather than feeling your bed is in your sink. You can find cabs at the building entrance, or at the metro station which is walking distance from the building. In summer, walking for 5 mins is already a living hell - this building was the best taking into consideration also its affordability, size, and how "nice" the whole building is. Nice amenities - pool, gym, lounge ... Show less

Positives
Great apartment in a convenient location
Negatives
I only miss having a proper terrace instead of a huge balcony
We've been living in Dubai for over 5 years and most of it has been in these apartments. Although we had moved a couple of times, somehow we always end up coming back here. Why? It's the perfect mix for us: *The apartment: -the space living is huge and very adequate for more… our small family (2,044 sq ft apartment), with a great layout where you can use every inch, no wasted corridors. -the kitchen in particular, which is where we spend a good amount of the day, is huge. There is no need on a day to day to use the formal dining room at all. We eat, do homework, enjoy coffee with friends, etc... in the kitchen -the services in the building are great: there is always someone available to give you a hand when you come with your car full of groceries, and when you need to install lamps, or hang pictures on the wall, .... I also find the maintenance of the building itself in good shape per Dubai standars -the crowd in the building is mixed and you can find westerns and arab families alike, so it's a good mix and pretty peaceful and quiet. -I particularly enjoy the convenience of having a small grocery shop right downstairs of the building, for those "I forgot to buy in Carrefour" moments, or when you need milk in the middle of the night. And then, there is also a Spinneys a couple of buildings away and an organic store in the building next door... *The location: -we are very good communicated and have direct access to either SZR on the front and First Al Khail on the back, which gives us plenty of flexibility -this is a very quiet area with no noises on the street, ideal for family with kids that need to get a good sleep at night -we've seen plenty of eatery places (from fast food to more refined restaurants) opening in the last years. And then of course, medical centers, pharmacies, beauty salons, etc. Everything within 5 minutes walking. -if we ever feel like going to more happening places like Marina, all we need to do is cross the bridge of the Marina Metro (which is just some meters from our apartment) and we are there, no need to get the car. -Kids have all the walk on the ground level to go skating, biking, running, etc. The new park that they built in one of the lakes, although a bit far walking (I wouldn't go in summer anyways) is a great addition for winter days. There are plenty of smaller play areas all around the community as well -Nurserys are all over, almost one in every cluster.... and, if that wasn't enough, they are building one just in front of our building! -There are very good schools just 10 minutes by car from us (DIA, Regent, ...). -Traffic around JLT is now a breeze after the construction on the back side finished around Dec-2013. Before that it was a real headache, but I cannot believe my eyes on how much it has improved. Even in rush hour you barely see any congestion... till you get to SZR, that is.... Show less

Good building with supermarkets and restaurants nearby, and amazing view of Sheikh Zayed road and Emirates golf club. Our only concern was guest parking, as it is only allowed for 3 hours, and that created difficulties almost every time we invited people over.
