Shoreline Apartments

Probably one of the most complete flat i have been living. View/facilities/proximity to shops/nightlife ... this building seems to tick all parameters .. except the parking issue, Only 1 parking for 1 bedroom, and very difficult to park the second one or even for guests. To get a second parking think adding 10k dhs a year .... The flat is fully furnished with a very modern twist. Excellent quality and design overall.

The shoreline buildings run up and down the right side of the Palm Jumeirah, but only the back side of buildings 1-10 have views along the coast line. The apartment on the backside of building 18 where resided for two year backs on the the rather lovely dry river bed with lots of plants and a running track, but also the back of the Golden Mile apartments and the Palm Monorail. Our apartment was in the column of xx05 apartments (I forget which 'type' this is) and was beautifully laid out with a main entrance hall leading the large kitchen and substantial living room. On either side were the two bedrooms and on-suite bathrooms. The main bedroom was large and square, and even had a walk-in dressing area. The maids/storage room was big enough for all our storage needs, including camping equipment and bikes. The building and apartment are both beautifully finished with proper wood skirting boards, nice tiles, nice fittings in all the room, even quality plugs and plenty of them. Parking was also plentiful, with one access card and space per apartment - my wife had a car so we had to pay 500 AED for an extra card. However we didn't bother renting out a second space as parking was plentiful - if you don't park in somebody elses allocated space, the security guards are willing to turn a blind eye. Living in the shoreline buildings gives you and your family access to the beach club, pool and gym but these are not located in the building - they are across a busy road in buildings 1-10 with poor crossing facilities over the road. Consider this if you have kids who want to use the pool often; you'll need to accompany them every time as the crossing over the road was poorly designed and cars shoot through the red lights all the time - they are an accident waiting to happen. The price of the apartment reflects the high standard of finish and facilities, but the main issue we had was that the apartment suffered from a lot of noise from all sides due to poor underlying build quality I suspect. On one side we had a family, and we were woken up every weekend at 8am by their kids - even though the kids were not being particularly noisy we could hear them talking and running around. Worst of all the people above used to stay up late every night and we could hear them walking around and playing musical instruments. Overall this is a wonderful apartment with great finish and superb location on the palm, however the amount of noise we could hear from the neighbours and the location of the pool and beach facilities across a busy road means this building is difficult to recommend.

I have been living in Dubai for a year now, and after my year on the Palm I am reluctant to live anywhere else. The amenities are fantastic; shops, restaurants, bakery, spa etc. Unfortunately we have no access to a beach,pool or gym which is frustrating, but if this was fixed, I would have no complaints what so ever. The security staff are so friendly, our pets feel welcome and the running track makes you appreciate being outside - something that is rare in Dubai for me .

One of the best apartments to stay in Dubai, is the luxurious and high standard of Shoreline. These apartments are comfortable and in lovely quiet area. Great value for money!

I enjoyed living there alot but i felt like it was great for a children to grow up there. I was in need of a garden. But the view was amazing the access to the gym, pool and beach was great there was great restaurant near bye and great supermarkets close by.

I think this is one of the best place in Dubai to live.

Our apartment has the view of Burj Al Arab & Burj Khalifa. It's the best view ever! And it's priceless to wake up to this view every morning! I believe it's the best place to raise children because it's secure; if you are not a resident you cannot enter the beach and the garden.

Having not exactly five starred all the options above, I still believe Palm Jumeirah is a gem. I would be much happier of course if there was some serious shopping involved. The place is full of spas and restaurants but one cannot do proper grocery shopping. However I hear that should be coming to the island very soon so I cannot be more excited. Another issue I see is that people seem to still enjoy speeding up and down the trunk... especially cab drivers, often not stopping at zebra crossing. On a positive note, like most of Dubai, this place is as neat as it can possible be. I am convinced that once the construction, whenever that will be, is over, it will truly be a wonder to live in.

MOVING DAY. Moving IN or OUT is NOT allowed on a Friday. So plan your move and coordinate with your movers accordingly. The movers have to get passes from another place before they can start unloading your furniture from the truck. They need a copy of the company's trade licence and each and every mover's labour card or passport. VIEW. Our 5th floor F-type apartment faces the west side of the trunk so our view is the Palm MONORAIL, The Golden Mile building, a little bit of sea view in between and a huge construction area, which I believe is going to be a mall. Good thing the windows shut out most of the noise from the monorail and the construction. From the ground floor, the west side of the building features a park and a 2.7 km running track which is shared by other buildings. Residents can also walk the dogs here provided the dogs do not go to the playground and the running track. SETTLING IN. The layout of our apartment is the larger among the different 2 bedroom types. And the building we are in accepts dogs so our landlord had no problem with us having 2 dogs. Our apartment has a small maid's room, but other residents use that as storage room or an extra guest room since it has it's own small private shower and toilet. The living and dining areas are big enough for a couple with 2 dogs or perhaps 1 child. We prefer dogs. Our main balcony is the largest among the 2-bedroom apartments in the building and serves as a cozy place to unwind after a long day at work. The master's bedroom has another balcony. The kitchen has ample storage space and you can fit a washing machine and a dishwasher. The master's bedroom has a large en suite with a shower and a bath. I like our separate wash basins so my husband and I do not compete for the sink every day. The second bedroom fits a queen or king sized bed and a small desk but that's about it. Though it has a separate bathroom. Both bedrooms have fitted wardrobes but for some reason they were still not big enough to fit my stuff alone. THE NEIGHBORHOOD. I can hear children running upstairs and my next door neighbor having a conversation on his phone. One night I was watching TV and I heard a pounding on the wall, assuming my neighbors can hear my TV show. Across the street is my favorite place to go. There are restaurants and bars, cafes, the gym and swimming pool and the beach! As a resident, I get access to the gym, pool and beach however family and friends have to pay 80DHS for the whole day. Towels are not provided but white plastic sun loungers are. It is a first come first serve kind of thing. But there is an option to rent another sun lounger for 30DHS with cushion and everything. One of the main reasons why we chose to live here despite the high rent is the gym, pool and beach access. It's just a walk away. Be careful when crossing the street though, there are still some idiots who will drive you over even when the lights turn red. Overall I feel like I'm on a permanent holiday.

Al Haseer is known as one of the best Shoreline buildings. It has excellent club facilities, a stellar gym, a spa and salon, a dry cleaning facility and a 24 hour security and concierge. It's almost like living in a hotel but you have loads of privacy and the apartments are beautiful, modern and well finished. It has been a pleasure living here but don't expect the neighbors to be really friendly. The beach is great as Al Haseer and Nabat are the only buildings that boast a stretch of sun loungers. Sophie's Cafe and Riva Restaurant are good places to eat but the real gem is Barca which is just three buildings down (a nice walk along the beach). The pool is regularly cleaned and there is a lovely track that most Shoreline residents use that spans about 3600 meters. The rooms are lovely and spacious in the apartments with a large kitchen area and really nice balcony views of either the road or the sea, although even with a road view, you catch wonderful glimpses of the Dubai Marina.

I live in one of the first buildings of Shoreline apartments on the right hand side. I have amazing sea view with Burj Al Arab in the center. The layout of the flat was a bit strange at first, but as I use the second bedroom just for my guests, it works fine for me. Finishing is OK, but I've definitely seen better. Bidi Bondi is just under the building which is very convenient if you fancy a bite or some drinks, but their outside terrace can be a bit noisy sometimes.

Shoreline Apartments directly located at the beach on Palm Jumeirah (only buildings 1-10). Great view, huge rooms, big and beautiful balcony, direct and private access to the beach, gardens and pools. Kind and professional security, nice neighbours. One or two basement parkings depending on your flat, some parking spaces for visitors. No noise and always fresh air from the sea. Only superlatives and no disadvantages... that's the truth. Go for it if you can afford it.

Living in Dubai is an experience that is hard to explain. As an expat it is hard to adjust to life here. However living here for the past 10 years has allowed me to truly appreciate Dubai and all it provides. I have lived in Huge villas (to my standard they were huge) and i loved it. I lived in Jumeirah, Safa, and Barsha in Villas that were amazing. Now im living on the Palm in the Shoreline Apartments after having a year back in South Africa and i have to say, as an apartment it is amazing in my opinion. it is about the size of my house in South Africa but with a room less. I truly love it. It is easy to get transport, it is easy to walk around it. Although I've only been here on the palm for a month, i am loving it.

District cooling was expensive. No pool or gym access only in the beach club. Poor finishing.

The construction quality of the Shoreline Apartments is horrible. I was constantly having leaks, and no one from the building management would EVER come to repair. I had to find my own service people, as I had a totally absentee landlord. It got scary at times. Once, an apt above me sprung a leak, and it just started pouring in my closet. It was midnight- and I was on my own to sort it out. My downstairs neighbors renovated their apartment TWICE in two years - they had three men, picking up tile for over 2 months- day in, and day out. 7am-6pm daily. It sounded like they were in my own bedroom, hammering. They had a permit, so there was nothing I could do. I am a stay at home wife, so all day- every day, for TWO MONTHS- hammering. It was horrible. NO RECOURSE. NOTHING. When my hubby returned from long haul flights- forget catching up on sleep during the day- this place as NO common sense in regards to this. And they did this TWICE in two years. It was horrible. There are often domestic fighting with a couple down the hall. I have called the police on them, as I was worried for the wife. I am NOT a busy body, but it was horrible. They had no shame. When I left the building to move to my new home, my sweet door man- who I had become friendly with, said "Madam, I am happy for your family, that you are moving out of this building. It is unsafe for you to live on the 7th floor, I am scared the building will crumble and hurt your family", "There are so many maintenance issues with this building, you don't even understand". We also had an obvious gas leak in the garage basement, and when I reported it, they said- there IS no gas leak. As a girl from Texas, I KNOW a gas leak when I smell one. I took my family to a hotel that night, as I was truly scared the building was going to explode. I called the cops, and explained the situation, and they took the threat more seriously- low and behold- there WAS a gas leak (my interior of my car-even smelled of natural gas for three days, until it aired out completely). I feel that the Shoreline Apartments have too many construction issues to house my family. The SECURITY to keep out burglars and such is OVERKILL. My maid had to have a pass to get upstairs. If you want to take your child to the beach park, and bring a friend home from school, you MUST pay 50 AED for the guest. There is NO common sense as far as the beach is concerned. When I was moving out, I went to retrieve my kayak, which I paid to store on the beach. Since my rental had been extended one month, I did not have a current pass, and they were trying to make me pay 50 AED to get onto the beach, and 50 AED for each of my moving men- to go retrieve the kayak. So, don't move to the Palm thinking you can entertain, and have friends over to enjoy the pool or beach with you, as you will have to pay for ANY guest, even an infant. It gets expensive after awhile, and one of the main reasons we moved. It was the big draw, AND the biggest flaw to life on the palm.

Al Hamri is great as it is on the palm and you can enjoy the beach and the facilities on the palm which are super quality. The view has been has been unfortunately covered by Golden Mile being built.

Our 3 bedroom apartment in Shoreline apartments is perfect for families with small children. The layout is good, master bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe and large bathroom. The two other bedrooms are smaller and without en-suite bathrooms, so it might become a problem with teenage children. Guest parking can be tricky on the Palm, and Shoreline 14 has a big advantage as it is right next to a large public parking area. Downside is, as it is on the left side of the Palm, we have to cross the street to access the swimming pool and beach area.
