DEC Towers

Living here for almost 2 years in 2 different flats. The only good thing about this flat was the size and location. Now the location has become a massive problem (#1) because of crazy traffic we have to deal with, caused by road works around the area (and possibly JBR). It can take up to an hour and a half just to get on SZR in the morning. And although it's a 2 bed apt, we only have 1 parking space which is used by my flatmate. On weekends you will struggle to park back if you leave. There is a tennis court and a big swimming pool - but NO TOILETS BY ANY OF THESE FACILITIES (not even by the old, falling apart gym or the so called "hot tub") The finishing of the apt and maintenance is terrible. All the bathrooms are rusty and smell.( In the appt we lived before we had a lot of mould in the bedroom and were not able to open the windows as they were sealed.) The AC only works properly in one of the bedrooms but the maintenance won't fix anything permanently so no point of calling them back again. The 2nd reason why we'll be moving is the noise coming from the outside. You can hear absolutely everything thanks to the quality of the windows. The roadworks on the bridge won't let you sleep either. It's a nonstop agony. As much as I loved living in the Marina I'll now happily move to the desert to get some sleep and have a stressless drive to work. The rent also went up like 30% in the 1 bed where i lived before and I'm sure this flat will increase too but that doesn't bother us as we will not be staying here any longer!

The apartment I stayed in was pathetic. From day one we had issues with the maintenance. The whole apartment had toilet smell. We were ashamed of inviting friends during summers since the smell got worse when we switched on the air conditioning. The management was least worried and very uncooperative. The rents were increased by 20% every year but the problems were never resolved. The noise levels were bad at any and every hour of day. It's not worth the money we pay for staying in marina. Living here from 16 months, great view of Dubai Marina, but the building is build with poor materials. Bathroom and kitchen has poor tiles and poor hydraulic plant, bath without windows and lot of time smelling from other bathroom. Maintenance very slack, lot of time lift under maintance, piping broken down and water pour from the upper floor on the corridor.

DEC is a great tower when it comes to value for money. the apartments are big and layouts are good. however, after only 6 years from handover, the building looks as if it is 30 years old. there is always problems with drains and smell in the bathroom. also the cooling system is suffering. in the common areas the gyms look like they are from he 70s with rust and old machines in tiny spaces. the pool is hardly ever temperature controlled in the right way in the winter cold, in summer hot, rarely it is correct. the most convenient part of the building is the huge supermarket on the ground floor.

Excellent Place to Live. Overall Apartment is in excellent condition and I believe this is one of the best community living experience. Hopefully with Tram project area will be awesome for point to point travelling withing Dubai Marina Area.

Good location with ok view and a big swimming pool but shame about the crappy finishing, AC, mould everywhere and insect.

I moved to DEC back in December 2008 and I was one of the first tenants in the building after construction. I was in the 12th floor in a one BR apartment with my wife only (no kids at that time). then in 2010 we had our first baby, and I moved to a 2 BR in the same building one year after. One of the most unique qualities of the building is the spacious apartments in there, as well as its connection to the high way. also Choitrams shop is just downstairs as well as the mosque which is a walking distance. Also one of the advantages is you can just walk with your family to the Marina Walk specially in winter, its just really nice. The maintenance of the building is not very good, and also noise levels from the road if you live in a low floor I think its a disadvantage. The building has the most wonderful pools I believe, as well as a tennis court.
